The VIPER53 is a voltage detector manufactured by ST Microelectronics. It is a dual supply monitoring IC that provides a power-on reset (POR) signal which can be used to initiate a system reset when the supply voltage drops below user-defined reset threshold voltage. The device comes in an 8-pin DIP package and operates over a wide range of supply voltages from 2.5V to 5.5V. It also features a low power consumption of only 5μA and a fast response time of 10μs. The VIPER53 is suitable for a wide range of applications including PSP, PMP, DVD players and industrial electronics. It can also be used in systems requiring a reset of the microcontroller or other peripheral digital logic when the voltage drops below a user-defined threshold
